About Roberval

Roberval is the host city of Naturallia 2017. This municipality, in the Saguenay—Lac-Saint-Jean administrative region, is located to North of the provincial capital, in the Domaine-du-Roy RCM.

The City, which faces majestic Saint-Jean Lake, stands out as a major business and industrial hub. Its attractiveness is due, among other things, to the presence of its many business sites and government services.

An excellent regional fit for Naturallia

The Domaine-du-Roy RCM is at the core of the development of Quebec’s forest industry. The Chief Forester’s office is also located in Roberval. Furthermore, the Saguenay—Lac-Saint-Jean area relies on the presence of several sawmills, as well as four pulp and paper plants.

Many mining projects are also being developed on the outskirts of the Domaine-du-Roy RCM, while several companies in northern Quebec are conducting feasibility studies or looking for financing. Indeed, these projects show great potential and include world renowned players, such as: Nemaska Lithium, Arianne Phosphate, and BlackRock Metals.

The presence of the Niobec mine and factory, located in Saint-Honoré in the Saguenay region, should also be highlighted. Its facilities have been in production for more than forty years.

Saguenay—Lac-Saint-Jean companies also have extensive expertise in the renewable energy sector. In addition to regional SMEs involved in major Quebec hydroelectric projects, the region is also home to two mini power plants: one currently in production at Val-Jalbert, near Roberval, and the other under construction north of Dolbeau-Mistassini.

The impact of many businesses working in natural resources, along with the presence of the aluminum industry, have enabled Saguenay—Lac Saint-Jean to develop industrial clusters of original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and high-end suppliers.

These unique SMEs, led by innovative and efficient entrepreneurs, have much to offer and gain as part of Naturallia 2017’s outstanding networking potential.
